I'm unable to get OO installed and running successfully on a new Fedora
10 box. I first tried installing using this package downloaded from
openoffice.org: OOo_3.1.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz

This went smoothly, but OO would not start from the start menu. Running
from the command line I got an error message that included this text:
"error while loading shared libraries: libuno_sal.so.3: cannot open
shared object file".

I then tried uninstalling by a variety of means, including rpm -e, yum
erase, and rm -rf of various oo directories.

I tried reinstalling from the tar.gz again, but of course that didn't work.

I've tried yum install openoffice-*, but ran into numerous conflicts.
Some (scrolled out of my buffer) were conflicts with files installed by
mysql 5.1. Others:

   file
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/mimetypes/gnome-mime-application-vnd.sun.xml.impress.template.png
from install of openoffice.org-core-1:3.0.1-15.4.fc10.i386 conflicts
with file from package openoffice.org3.1-redhat-menus-3.1-9393.noarch
   file
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/mimetypes/gnome-mime-application-vnd.sun.xml.math.png
from install of openoffice.org-core-1:3.0.1-15.4.fc10.i386 conflicts
with file from package openoffice.org3.1-redhat-menus-3.1-9393.noarch

I'm afraid that I'm at the point where I'm not cleaning up properly, so
I can't go backward, and I've been unsuccessful going forward.

How can I clean up, and do an install producing a working version of oo 3.1?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
