I'd like to know how to move a table in Writer. Yes, I tried selecting it and then dragging it.

Perhaps you didn't try hard enough?! This method does work - more or less - in my version of OpenOffice (3.1 for Windows XP).

o If I select not only the table but also the preceding paragraph mark, I can drag the table elsewhere. If I hold down Ctrl as I release the mouse, the table is copied instead. o If I select only the table - using Ctrl+A *twice* or Table | Select > | Table - then I can move or copy the table by dragging, with the incidental result that an empty version of the table is left behind. It is easy to delete this, using Table | Delete > | Table or by selecting it once again and then using right-click | Row > | Delete or right-click | Column > | Delete. o Identical results to the above two points can be obtained using Cut (or Copy) and Paste instead of dragging.

Remember that a table is an item that fits between paragraphs, so you cannot position it within a paragraph or beyond the end of the text - or after a page or column break within the same page or column. You can position a frame in this fashion, of course - and you can put a table inside a frame if necessary. You can even drag it there ...

I trust this helps.
