When I select text (in OOo writer 1.1.4, Linux and Windoze 98se) using the mouse, it works great, but as soon as I cross a page boundary, the process accelerates so much that I completely lose control of it and select much more than I wanted to. When I try to correct this by backing up, the same thing happens in the opposite direction and often goes past the starting point. This is vey frustrating and disorienting.

Is there a way to control the speed of this process, - to slow it down? This may be OS dependent, because I think the same thing happens in other programs.

I know I can use shift-uparrow or shift-downarrow instead of the mouse. That's easier to control - although the text window does scroll in blocks instead of line by line and that is a bit unsettling, but I would still prefer to have it work better with the mouse.

Thanks.

Joe
