Actually, no: that's why I mentioned sections. If you insert a section and then set the section (instead of the page) to have columns, the section can extend just as far as your table needs (but your table couldn't easily span a page boundary). Below the section, the page can revert to the normal single-column arrangement. (Perhaps I should have said "... insert a section with two columns *instead*..." above.)
