Hi, Ray. After the installation, you should have an icon for
OpenOffice.org on your desktop. If you open that, there will be a button
for text documents; click it, and the Writer application will open with
a blank document. From that point, it's a lot like other word processing
applications in how you use it, but there's a lot of other documentation
available. One useful link is

That's the part of the Getting Started guide that is about Writer. And,
