Er - I suspect the OP is talking about line spacing, not character spacing. Select the text you want to double space. Go to Format>Paragraph. Select the Indents and Spacing Tab. Towards the bottom is a box labelled 'Line Spacing' Click on the arrow and select 'Double Spacing' That should do it.
