That is not the address he is talking about. When you send an unsubscribe request the confirmation email you receive has a reply address that includes "=" and "@". Here is an example I received. My name and address have been altered between ( and ).

users-uc.1(xxxxxxxxx).hdfldpeedelpeoofiibm-(me)=(my domain)[email protected]


Having just tested this myself, the OP also has the option described below:

Some mail programs are broken and cannot handle long addresses. If you
cannot reply to this request, instead send a message to
<[email protected]> and put the entire address listed above

Clearly the OP's email client falls into this category.
into the "Subject:" line.
