Is it possible to see index entry fields within Writer, so that I can put
paragraph marks between them?
It would be useful to be able to edit, or copy and paste, them as well.
I mean the things created by
Insert > Indexes and Tables > Entry
I am using Open Office 3.1 on Windows XP.
Reasons:
1)
I have a Microsoft Word document that has, for the first 19 pages,
no text, apart from occasional paragraph marks and some unintended
space characters, and the index entries necessary to produce an index to
accompany a series of (Powerpoint) slides containing parts of a family tree.
When the Word document is opened by Open Office Writer, the index table
(even if updated) only picks up a few of the entries. Experiments lead me
to believe that those picked up include all at the start of a paragraph (so
mostly one per page, with a few others where by chance I started a new
paragraph.)
2)
I have a Microsoft Word transcription of a family tree book, which I have
indexed but not proof-read. Matching names in the index entries, regardless
of the name given in the text, is a great deal easier if both the text and
the index entries are exposed and editable, rather than seeing one at a
time. (The same applies to a similar document written in Open Office
Writer.)
