Thanks. With the 2.0 setup these acrobatics are no longer needed as installation is done using the Windows native installer (MSI) thus taking away some of the pain for naive users. That' s the good news. The bad news is that the 1.1.x setup guide is no longer supported so your suggestion, although valid, will not make it into the document.
