I've downloaded a lot of spellcheckers for Open Office and none of them seems
to be working. What should I do?

Spell checking is linked to the language attribute of the text ...
You can see/set that in various ways:
- Format|Font, tab Font > Langage
- Context menu > Edit paragraph style> Tab Font > Language
- Tools|Language ...
And of course you have to start spell checking. Can be done with the
"ABC-with red wave" Icon on the toolbar Standard.
