1) Dropdown box of suggested data for varchar field
My database has a varchar field. In practice, the data being entered
into this field would most likely be A, B, or C, but there needs to
be the option to add other data. Therefore, I would like to have a
hybrid dropdown box / single-line text area that lets the user either
select A, B, or C from the dropdown list, or alternatively enter his
own value via keyboard.
How about just one more element in your list box - "Other"; "X", if you
will - that directs attention to an "Other" field where the "other data"
is instantiated?
2) Configurable datetime field
On page 20 of the Getting Started with Base pdf file available from
the OOo website [1] (actually marked as page 16 in the document
footer),one can see the date fields already complete with the current
date, yet configurable to change to a different date. How is this
done? Also, can this be done with a datetime field as opposed to just
a date field?
No suggestions, but am glad you asked it. I was scratching my head over
this just last night.
