I commend you on your work. First, I would suggest you read the
license for the OpenOffice.org office suite (OOo). This would be to
assure you that OOo can be used in the manner you desire. (It can)
Second, I recommend someone or bettter yet a few people in your
group spend some time reading the documentation available at
http://documentation.openoffice.org. Let each person of this group work
with one area of OOo. You might want to let each person in this "study"
group learn as much as possible in a particular area of OOo.
Thirdly, I recommend someone download the latest beta version of
OOo 2.0. (Right now it is 1.9.104, but 1.9.108 is due out soon.) Burn
it on a CD along with a copy of Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
available from www.java.com. (This is free also. It is also required if
the database of OOo is going to be used.) Before installing OOo on any
computer, read the study_guide.pdf file for instructions on installing.
It would probably be a good idea to join this mailing list for the
summer. A wide variety of questions are asked and answered on the list.
To do so, send an empty email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You
will receive a confirmation email. When you get it, click reply and
then send. You will then be added to the mailing list. (One warning:
this is not a small mailing list so there can be as many as 200 emails
a day being sent to the members of this mailing list.
