If you press F11 you'll bring up the the *Styles & Formatting* menu. The 4th icon along at the top covers Page styles. You'll see one named *Default* and another named *First Page*. The First Page style has Default defined as its *Next Style*. So modify (right click, Modify) the Default style to have the heading you want and then ensure your document's first page is formatted using the First Page style. Voilà. Styles are key to OOo.
