No sure what your looking for here. OpenOffice.org has some document
version tracking built-in. When working on the users guides we use OOo's
ability to track and display changes from several users. If this is what
your looking for I can go into more detail.
Looking for all that, and the ability to compare different versions of the same
file that diverged from a common ancestor outside when the versions were
edited outside of these tools.
If you have a copy of the Writer's Guide, should have got it when you
installed OpenOffice.org, check chapter 3. Part of that covers tracking
changes. If you do not have it you can get it from
http://www.oooauthors.org/english/userguide3/published/WG3_index .
As I said this is the same process that is used to write the guides.
