I think I found the reason for such a large number of
messages "unsubscribe me, please."
I subscribed to this list 2 years ago, but now I decided
to read the messages using newsreader or gmane.
Acting under instructions (at the end of each post),
I sent an email to
[email protected].
After that I sent confirmation to the address that I got
that I would like to remove my address from the users
mailing list.
But I continued to receive letters every day.
I repeated the whole process three times and each time
I received an answer from machine that my "address was
not on the users mailing list when I received your
request and is not a subscriber of this list".
And I have not changed my email-address since the time
I subscribed. However, the letters continued to arrive.
The fact that I can not solve this stupid problem
strongly stung my pride.
In search of an answer, I went to a page where we all
subscribe: http://www.openoffice.org/mail_list.html
And the answers was there:
You can subscribe to
1. "Normal" or 2. "Digest".
Accordingly in order to unsubscribe you should sent
a letter to
1. [email protected]
or
2. [email protected]
I sent a letter to the second address
[email protected]
and now I am not a subscriber of this list.
Possibly there is some sense to add this second address
[email protected]
at the end of every message too because many
persons were subscribed for digest.
P.S.
This is a wonderful maillist. I am very grateful to
all the computer guru, who in his spare time helping
newcomers. I really like the friendly atmosphere in
this mailsist that looks like OpenOffice Club.
For those who do not tolerate newcomers I want to say
that there are no stupid questions, there are only
stupid answers.

This is a very good point, Vera. I agree that the trailer should include
that link, or better yet, only the link that actually applies to the
account receiving the post. It would be interesting to know if the
"list-unsubscribe" header in the messages received by the digest
subscribers is correct. If so, this information is certainly known as
the header is being constructed, so why not the trailer? I'm adding it
to my "checklist" of things to consider when trying to help somebody. I
knew about this alternative, but there's no good way I can see for us as
list members to know which version of the list they're subscribed to
(AFAIK, we can't see their headers), and it's easy to forget about that.
I'll play around a bit more with this. Thanks!
