[from Subject: How can I reinstall opal office?]

Hi, Tim. This mailing list and its volunteers support openoffice.org (OOo), not opal office (wherever you got that). But if you go to www.openoffice.org, you can download and install OOo. The program, and a great deal of documentation and support, are available free. OOo is a very strong alternative to MS Office, and in most cases can read and write files of those formats (though it is best to stay with the original .doc, and other older formats, rather than the Office 2007 .docx, and the other newer formats). Installation is typically a matter of double-clicking the downloaded file and following the installation prompts, but there are more complete instructions also available on the above website.
