On Sat, 12 Dec 2009 12:20:02 +0100 Came this utterance formulated by Andreas Saeger to my mailbox:
> Microsoft has a (patented?) mechanism which embeds True Type (tm) in > their document formats. > OOo/ODF does not support this. The fonts have to be installed or > replaced by some equivalent (Tools>Options...Fonts...). > OOo can embed fonts in PDF. I was unaware of this - it sounds similar to PDF font embedding. Which document formats does it work on: DOC, XDOC and spreadsheet formats? Is there a site i can read up on this? I'm curious how it affects the openness of OOXML(XDOC) and the published binary formats (DOC). Unless this process/mechanism is open it sounds like another reason to warn people off DOCX. -- Michael All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well - Julian of Norwich 1342 - 1416 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
