Came this utterance formulated by Andreas Saeger to my mailbox:

I was unaware of this - it sounds similar to PDF font embedding. Which
document formats does it work on: DOC, XDOC and spreadsheet formats? Is
there a site i can read up on this? I'm curious how it affects the
openness of OOXML(XDOC) and the published binary formats (DOC). Unless
this process/mechanism is open it sounds like another reason to warn
people off DOCX.
