However your problem is not Linux per se. OO.o 3.1.1, as released via
Ubuntu, functions perfectly under both the 64 bit and 32 bit variants of
Ubuntu 9.10. This suggests to me that you may have inadvertently
introduced a language element that uses right to left writing, perhaps
in your locale, or in the OO.o Options setup? Sorry I can't be of more
help.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The Avery labels do not print out
properly. When I was selling Avon I would take Avery mailing labels (I
forget the size at the moment) and I would always wind up with the text
slowly moving up toward the top (and toward the bottom of the label
sheet, eventually off the labels) and left of the labels. I know it's
not my printer because this problem presents on multiple printers with
the sheet being inserted straight in the paper feed whereas in lesser
office suites, this problem does not present (e.g. the labels print
perfectly).
All very interesting, but in no way relevant to the OPs original
question. He claimed, wrongly in my experience, that re-setting the page
format to A4 produced correctly formatted labels.
Correctly in *my* experience. My Fedora 12 system was build shortly before
Christmas and has not been modified in any way. The locale is en_GB. I have
experienced the problem on version 2 of OO and label writing was one of the
first elements to test.
For what it's worth I always create my own, table-based label templates
because I'm not a fan of the frame-based system adopted by OO.o.
However, I've experimented with up to 10 sheets of labels using the OO.o
system without noticeable mis-alignment.
