I know that you can easily filter out the messages from moderated

these messages on a list-wide basis. Just a thought.
Um, they already do?
Not all of them.
Only the messages through one particular mechanism (I can't remember
which at the moment) get the [moderated] tag. Having it inserted as part
of the message subject for all messages from unsubscribed posters could
be awkward if they're part of a continuing conversation, since they'd be
likely to build up deeper in the thread.
Ideally, we would not need to know whether the poster is subscribed or
not. Currently, that information is required so that anybody who
responds to an unsub (to the original post or one deeper in the thread)
knows to cc the unsub. This is particularly difficult for those
following the list via a newsgroup, since most news readers don't
support the kind of filtering that mail clients do (I think TB's news
reader might be/have been updated to allow it, though).
I'm currently documenting an approach that does not require that cc'ing,
using the thread command. This actually could be done without any
changes to ezmlm/CollabNet, unlike the suggestion above; further
discussion of that will be on the discuss list.
