Interesting read and sad to hear your issues with Suse, but your issues have little to do with Openoffice. I'm assuming the issue with 'rpm' is the OOo rpm.
I'm sure help can be provided on this list (about installation) if your issue is clearly stated. "NO SHOW" really doesn't provide alot of information to go on to problem solve the installation.
