As far as the list is concerned, you are "subscribed" because you are
posting through Gmane. Such posts do not go through the moderator, they
get a special header that satisfies the checks on need for moderation.
Your posts don't contain the header we're filtering on. Josef's,
however, did have this header, which is why you got the message about
his not seeing the message. He *may* be using another way to view the
list messages, but generally people who post like that are not. I know
of only one person whose posts come in as unsubscribed, but who is
following the list in another way. Those of us who've been on the list a
while treat her posts as exceptions, and don't copy her on responses.

Barbara,
Thank you very much for the explanation. It was not my intention to
start another meta-thread. There are too many of those already.
In my honest opinion, a mailing list is not well suited as a medium for
user support. A mailing list is an option for groups of collaborators.
Software developers subscribe to a list and nobody will ever miss any
messages if the subscription is mandatory.
Most users don't want to receive copies of all messages. Today's
moderated web forums can do a better job for users seeking for help.
