The critical issue we have right now is, that OpenOffice
generates empty pages within the master document
but we do not know why. In the sub-documents there are
no manuell pages breaks defined. Export the master document
to a single documents solves the problem but that's not the
solution we are looking for.
I guess the issue may be that any new sub-document has to start on a
right page, or a page with an odd number. This is a normal typographical
convention, take any book you have at hand and you will notice that new
chapters always begin on a right page.
OOo considers each sub-document a new chapter and therefore makes sure
that the first page is on a right page. In other words, if your sub
document N has an odd number of pages, say from page 71 to 81, then sub
document N+1 will not start at page 82 (left page) but rather at page 83
(right page).
Note that this is a feature and it used to apply also to single
documents with multiple Heading 1 when converted to PDF.
