Hi,
I've added j2re1.4.2_08 from java.com and jre1.5.0_02 from Sun.
These both install as self extracting shell archives and not as pkgadd's and
jvmsetup doesn't find them...
It doesn't matter... I trussed the jvmsetup & I've fixed it now...
But it might be worth adding a FAQ that jvmsetup looks for libjvm.so in a
variety of locations under /usr/java/...
like..
jre/bin/classic/
bin/classic
lib/sparc/client/
lib/sparc/classic/
and maybe a few other variations, but you get the idea.
The JRE's I loaded had 'sparcv9' instead of 'sparc' directory names or
symlinks and the 'classic' link or dirname was missing entirely.
Adding a 'classic' link seemed most appropriate for me as libjvm now lives in a
'server' directory in the above JRE's.
Could jvmsetup run a 'find' or equivalent instead of having a few hardcoded
paths, as a workaround? In the meantime maybe just a more informative/helpful
message in the jvmsetup dialog box might help - it was fixed with a symlink,
but the truss was a bit of a pain as it logged all the mouse moves!!!
Thanks
Alex...
