Hello
With OOo 3.2 RC4 on iMac Intel and Mail
When I receive a doc or odt attachment in Mail, I can't open it by
just double-clicking on it.
I have to drag it to OOo in the dock, or otherwise drag it (download
it) to the desktop (or another location) before OOo will open it.
Double-clicking on the file in a mail makes appear a second OOo icon,
below in the dock, only for a second. The icon disappears, and that's
it. (I still have the 3.1.1 version in a subdir in Applications, 3.2
RC4 is my 'main' version, in Applications dir itself)
If the RC4 isn't open, double-clicking on the attachment in a mail
will open 3.1.1
Can somebody (on Mac) confirm this regression, i.e. that RC4 doesn't
open attachments directly from a mail?
I think it is a Mac problem. I use Thunderbird for mail most of the time
for email and it opens attachements in RC4.
I tested in Mail and clicking on an attachment opens it in OOo-dev 3.3.0
[300m70]. I can't get it to automatically open in RC4. If I right click
on the attachment I can go to Open With and choose RC4.
I don't have 3.1.1 on my system any longer so I can't test your exact
setup.
I think the problem occurs because both 3.1.1 and RC4 are named
OpenOffice.org.app which is causing Mail to become confused. In
Thunderbird I can set the program to use for opening attachments. Mail
relies on the system defaults, which seem to become confused when using
more than one version of OO.o. I have had this problem with opening
documents before (not in email attachments). Trying to change the system
defaults often hasn't worked.
