Here is what I used:
=IF(OR(F6="yellow";F6="y");5;0)
Note: I did changed from F8 to F6 to test.

Error 508 means that parentheses don't match and shouldn't have
anything to do with comparing strings. Check again that you didn't
type one parenthesis too many or if you missed one.
