So instead, what I'd like to do is put the serialized number into a
Table Cell, displayed on top of the image. The serialized buttons
are used for drawings, etc., during the celebrations.
Unfortunately, although it's fairly trivial to create serialized
numbers for each table cell, getting it to live on top of the
graphic is something i
can't seem to do. One always displaces the other since one is text
and the
other graphic.
At 6 button artworks per Letter Size sheet and a requirement for
10,000 buttons, you can see why I don't want to do it manually<G>!

Does anyone have any idea how I could get an incrementing number to
display
on top of the image in each cell?
...
Any leads, thoughts or methods would be most appreciated,

I created a six-celled table in Writer and made the row heights 3" to
contain a logo that I have. Then I inserted the logo into the first
cell and set its anchor "to character." I turned on hidden
characters so that I could see the Paragraph indicator. I changed
the alignment of the paragraph to center it, and then I added .25"
space above the paragraph so that it was not against the top of the
cell. Then I typed a number into the paragraph. It appeared on top
of the logo. So I would think that you could do the same when you
enter the mail-merge field for the number that you want to increment.
I forgot to add that I chose "in background" for the wrap of the logo.

Hmm, thanks, that sounds like it has a chance of working! Unfortunately I suddenly can't recall where I put my source list of 10 numbers; all I can find is the one that goes to 10,000! :-( Think I"m getting blotto; Guess I'll put this to be til tomorrow.

Thanks again, & I'll be back,

Twayne
