When I asked for help downloading and installing the security patch for

Yes, thanks, I did.
Sorry if I was too brief, I didn't know what part of the instructions
were unclear from your first e-mail. I have responded further below.
So I clicked the download site and a list of files
opened. I downloaded the file that matched the name given in the
instructions. The instructions then say to go to the OpenOffice.org
"program" directory and, after making a back-up copy of the patch, "copy
the library you downloaded to the location of the old one." I wasn't
aware of downloading a library, just a file.
The extension to the file is ".dll". DLL stand for Dynamically Linked
Library, <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DLL>.
Also, I apaprently don't
know how to find the location of the old one. I'm new here in more ways
than one; thanks for any help you can offer.
Two ways:
1) As the instruction state, you go to the OOo program directory. This
would be the directory OOo is stored in. For Windows it might be
something like C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 1.1.4\program, or
something of that sort.
The example in the instructions is: .../OpenOffice.org114/program.
Whichever it is, go to the program directory.
2) Double Click on My Computer and select *File > Search* and enter the
file name you need find.
