Looks to me as if Keith has hit the nail very much on the head ; while I am a great believer in randomness and stochastic processes, I somehow doubt that Microsoft's choice of a name for this product which corresponds precisely to that of the word processor in the office suite which is its greatest rival was the result of chance....
