I don't get it! I sent an email for support and received it back myself. What
gives?

What gives is that you have joined the Users mailing list, "manned" by volunteers from around the world. When you send a message in the list you get a copy. This shows that your message was post to the list.

When someone has some information that may help they will post a reply to the list. This has the added benefit of having your message and replies added to the archive of messages so that in the future someone searching for the subject can find the help without re-asking.

When I open a document, the theme pane always opens. How do I close it?
Thanks. Basically, I want as few things in the toolbar as possible for best
visibility....Can you help me possibly set up a custom toolbar? I am new with
the program and am to learn as much, as fast as possible. Great
program....planning on sticking with it. Thanks.

Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using? What operating system, I am presuming Windows?

I do not find a "theme" listed in any of the toolbars. You can customize the tool bar by clicking Tools then Customize on the main tool bar.
