[users] Trouble with 'Selection Lists'

When updating a name & address database, I would like to speed up data entry
by
using the 'CTRL D' feature in an empty data field to get a list of
previously
entered data in that column.  When I do this I get absolutely no results.
 What
am I doing wrong?
