Once upon a time I used the evil Microsoft Office and would use the copy command on individual Excel cells, then "paste special" and link in Powerpoint so that anytime I opened the PP file all of the pages in it would be updated to the latest spreadsheet information.

Having learned the error of my ways, I'm now using Open Office and would like to do the same thing. I've been experimenting with it, but so far haven't figured out exactly how to do it. I want the links to update in a predetermined format.

Any help or 'pointing to the right direction' would be appreciated. I don't mind figuring it out, but I just haven't found the right documentation so far.

o In Impress, go to Insert | Object > | OLE Object... . (That's "Object Linking and Embedding".)
o Select "Create from file" and "OpenOffice.org 3.2 Spreadsheet".
o Tick "Link to file" and click Search... .
o Browse to your spreadsheet document.

You'll be able to work it out from there.

I trust this helps.
