Salim, OpenOffice.org does not sell CDs, and does not certify any of
those who do (generally for a nominal fee, since the program is free to
download from www.openoffice.org). Have you actually gone through the
installation process, or just put the installer file on your computer?
After installation (double-click the installer and follow its
instructions), you should have a menu with icons for the various parts
available however your system provides them (for example, in your
Windows Start menu), and possibly also through a desktop icon and from
an icon in your system tray. The other thing you need to do is make sure
the "file association" for each type of file is set so that the
operating system knows what application to use. For example, right-click
on a .doc file, select Open With, and browse to swriter.exe
(OpenOffice.org Writer), then select the option to always use this
program for this filetype. You may have to do something similar in your
e-mail program to be able to open attachments directly.
As for opening .pdf files, this is not a primary function of OOo; there
are free readers (Adobe Acrobat and others) specifically designed for
that purpose, although the OOo Draw program can make some use of them.
The OOo programs are quite good at writing such files, though.
