Thanks. The Insert>Graphics>Scan>Request worked perfectly. Is there a place
on the OOo website where I can get the 'rules of the users'? Scott Carr
suggested I e-mail you all and I had no idea that I was not to respond
directly. How would I know? Sorry.
Thanks again, Alexa

My only guess would be to try to use the command the shortcut in my
start menu uses.
soffice.exe -writer
Not sure other wise.
Good luck.
Here is another thought. Try going about it in the other
direction. Have the Writer document open into which you wish to scan a
photo. Then use
Insert > Graphics> Scan > Request.
(You might need to first do Insert > Graphics > Scan > Select Source to
tell OOo what scanner you are using.) This process should allow you to
insert a scanned photo into the Writer document.
Here is another suggestion. You might want to first insert a frame
and then insert the photo into the frame. If you do it this way, you
can add a caption to your photo within the frame. If you need to move
the photo in any way, the caption will be moved with it.
