All it did is change the file associations for .doc files from Word to OpenOffice. This just means that if you click on them on the desktop it will be OO that opens them not Word. But you can still open them as normal Word documents from within Word. Windows' Help system should tell you how to change the associations back if that's what you want to do. I'm pretty sure that all recent versions of OO have asked the question, even though plenty of people still miss it. check the version number you are runnning.
