I have discovered that the term "ab2cd" will has two word boundaries: before the "a" and after the "d", however the Hebrew equivalent "××2××" has four word boundaries: at the beginning and end as expected, and also around the numeral. Is there a workaround for defining such a term as not to break in the middle? I know about non-breaking spaces, but is there a non-breaking non-printed character?
Yes: it's the Word Joiner - Unicode 2060. Unicode FEFF - the Zero Width No-Break Space - also appears to work, but its use in this way is said to be deprecated.
