I waited for someone else to respond, but apparently no one else will for awhile.

As I see it you have two problems. The first one, the image in the background, sounds to me like you want a watermark. Look for watermark in the help files.
The second, INSERT->PICTURE then browse to the image file you want.

Come back to the list if this does not solve your needs.

As for the placement of the image relative to the text in your business card, check out the "Wrap" options to find one that does what you'd like. You can see these by right-clicking on the image once you have inserted the graphic, selecting Picture, and going to the Wrap tab. On the same tab, you can adjust the amount of space around the picture so the text isn't too close.
