When you select your line spacing from the drop down, pick leading
and then type a negative number (eg -.02) this will reduce your line
leading -- like you I would prefer a typesetter's style size/lead
option, but I guess that is why they make layout programs.

Not all things need to be laid out with so much space between
lines.It appears to be around 18 pt with text at 12 pt and is not
editable to anything smaller, though if i wanted to increase it it
will let me.
Even Microsoft Word lets you reduce the leading.
