Please specify *exactly* the site you are talking about. The
openoffice.org("OOo") software is entirely free: free to download and
free to use. Support
is also free via this mailing list and via several forums. The correct site
is www.openoffice.org
The OOo software is made available under a licence which allows other people
to sell the same software or modified versions of it provided the source
code is available for free to the purchaser. Some people sell OOo on CD at a
price (about USD10) merely to cover the cost of the CD plus P&P. They do
this as a service to those with slow and/or unreliable and/or expensive
internet connections. Other organisations sell OOo with enhanced
functionality and/or with additional services such as multi-site
installation support. But there is a third class of people who sell OOo to
the unwary (caveat emptor). This is particularly galling when they not only
charge for what can be had for free but also point their customers at us for
support. By the way, we are just *users* of OOo who volunteer time to help
others.
