Thanks, it worked for me today! I think I hit one URL too many when I was trying to download yesterday.
Thanks again!

I have been an OpenOffice user for a while now, but I'm having a problem. I'm having to reinstall all my 3rd party programs due to a computer crash, and can't get to the download page. Does anyone know
what is going on - is it me or their server? Thanks for any assistance!

It works fine for me. Try again from www.openoffice.org.

Can you access the web site? If not, try CNN.com or Google.com to see if your system is working properly. Also sometimes the browser security options may be messed up and not allow you to download an EXE file. That happened to me once with
Windows.

So below is some links. The first one is a direct link to "ibiblio - the public's library and digital archive" mirror for OOo. If you did not want Windows with Java Runtime engine, then copy the link, but drop the filename. Then that will give you the entire list. Windows is near the bottom of the list shown.

Here is a link to one of the mirrors for the downloads.
http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/openoffice/stable/3.2.1/OOo_3.2.1_Win_x86_install-wJRE_en-US.exe
Right Click the link and use the save as option.

I found the mirror from this page of OOo's site.

Sometimes it works faster to download from one of the mirrors.

One thing that I do, for my protection, besides the standard data backups, is save the install files for all the software I need to use when I need to install / re-install to a new/old computer. I usually create a CD/DVD with these files so I do not have to look up all of the
files from their web sites.

-------
Also, it is always nice to have an external drive as a backup for the data and installable files. You can get a device to plug into a spare drive, so it works like an external USB drive, or you can buy a dedicated external drive, like I have [1 TB] for saving my data files and photos, etc.. This way, every time I download a new update for OOo or other such software, I place it on the
external drive as a backup for later, if needed.

Also, I have a web page that lists much of the free Windows software
that I have used. http://www.lungstrom.com/list/ Go to the blue boxes and choose the sub-list item. First one [left] is Text. . . ., mouse over it and click on Office Software, the first one listed is OpenOffice.org, and then you click on "their site" button and it directs you to the software's web site pages where you can down it from, unless they change the download page. I created this to show people what free software is out there for Windows. I did this along with creating the CDs or DVDs with the install files of all these different free programs. The only trouble is I have to
keep remaking the DVDs when the software is updated.
