Dear Users:

In addition to my email traffic here, I follow up with many others whose
availability is apt to be uncertain or unstable.

By using reply requests, I can follow and track their availability and
adjust my expectations of them by default.

Most email clients not only allow for the request sending to be turned off
or on, but also allow recipients to pre-decide the handling of such
requests.

Generally the recipient of such a request has 3 choices:

1) Refuse to reply to all return requests
2) Have the email client ask each time.
3) Accept and reply automatically to all such requests.

Hence every individual email recipient can make his/her own choices as to
the default handling of confirmation requests. These choices generally apply
to all senders from whom they receive email.

For further information, consult the instructions of your email client. This
applies equally to POP and IMAP email accounts, and without distinction as
to the means of connection (DHCP routing and internet protocol type.)

If you are accessing your email via a browser and website, look in your
personal settings area of that website for the equivalent control of return
requests.

Best Regards,

Bruce Martin

A question for Bruce Martin, if I may:

Why do all your mails come with a request to confirm that the e-mail was
received? It's really annoying to have to tell my mail reader to ignore
the request each time.

Do you have a reason for this behavior? Is there a way for you to
disable this in your mail reader?
