Maybe it is possible, but I have been following this exchange and have not been able to figure out /how/ [and have been looking for a post in which someone tests Vladimir's situation]. If, for example, I save a file "test.1.2" with automatic extension, OO does so properly, whether to native formats (like .ODT or .ODS) or foreign formats (like .DOC or .XLS). I have not found a format for which OO [3.2.0, WinXP] fails to append the proper extension.
Can you try to use underscores (_) instead of the points? It will be still readable.
Yes, of course it's still readable, but I think Vladimir's point was to confirm that dots in the filename upset the automatic extension feature (presumably prior to filling a bug report). However, I have not been able to make dots in the filename cause OO to fail. What have you found in that regard?
