Normally when I open a new document the font color is by default set to
'automatic' which without any highlighting or background fill used to
produce black text. Now, the automatic setting produces a dark gray
color instead of black. It also affects any previously saved document
that I open where the text color was set to 'automatic' (changing the
text from black to dark gray). So far, the only way I can alleviate this issue is to switch from 'automatic' to 'black' under
Tools->Options->Accessibility->Font color, however this requires that I
change the color manually for any text with background fill.

This also makes a medium gray text color instead of white when I switch
to a black background with 'automatic' text color.

The problem is systemwide and we're wondering how to fix this for all users.

We think it happend when we did an upgrade, but this was months ago and we can't trace it exactly.

We're running OO 3.2.0 (OOO320m12 (Build 9483)) in Ubuntu 10.04.1

Thank you for any help with this situation.

Hi Andy,

Have you checked the settings under Tools>Options>Appearance? The sixth item down sets the font automatic color.
