I'm hoping that this will be an easy issue. With OpenOffice Calc can someone
pleas tell me how to format two or more consecutive cells as being
continuous so that the text in say two cells would be centered across the
two cells. For example, the word "INCOME" in the folloiwng is centrally
spaced across two columns.

[ INCOME ]
[2009] [100.00]
[2010] [250.00].

Thanks

Yes that´s easy: just select both cells and than use the menu entry 'Format / Merge cells'

*upps* sorry was to fast to reply you also wanted it centered so next you will have to use the "Align Center Horizontally" Icon from the toolbar or call "Format - Cells" than select the tabpage "Alignment" and use the listbox on the left of that dialog to select "Center".

Kind regards,
