I guess that 10.04 is a safer upgrade because it's a LTS version.
I recently upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 and I have to say 10.10 is not
very impressive. I even experience observable lags in mouse and video
playback from time to time, while 10.04 could run smoothly on my
machine.
