John, the OP (Tony Layland) was not subscribed, so David sent him a copy of his own response -- but copied the list as well. so the subscribers saw it again. Sigh.

As has been pointed out *many* times, the current list management is far from ideal in the way unsubscribed users are handled. Until/unless a better way is developed and agreed on, though, we seem to be stuck with it. All the proposals made to date seem to have fairly significant flaws of their own.

I did receive it so obviously I am on the list. Please remove it.

Some of the folks on this list didn't think you are subscribed. If that's true, you won't have received this answer. So I have forwarded it to you.

David,

nothing personal, of course, but thanks for another proof of the OOo-users issues I recently summarized here: http://stop.zona-m.net/2010/11/a-proposal-for-effective-volunteer-friendly-user-support-in-libreoffice/

May I quote?

'The absolutely obvious consequences are that: [...] volunteers come and go, but only the good but clueless ones that sincerely believe that this is a sensible "strategy" remain to provide "support".'

That would be us, then?

;^)
