[users] corrupt file?

i was recently working on a file, and the file (while i was working on it)
decided to STOP EDITING. i restarted my computer, seeing as it was frozen,
and when it rebooted, i found the file corrupt.
where can i find the auto-save files that it saves every minute or so?
i am using UBUNTU 10.10, and OpenOffice3.2
