I replaced open office since I got ubuntu 10.04 a couple of weeks ago (I had
been using ubuntu 9.04).
It was opening spreadsheets v e r y s l o w l y - like taking an hour. Then
they had extra red letters in them that should not have been there. Someone
online told me to remove and replace OO, that it had something to do with the
french language module, but replacing OO would fix it.
I did that, from the command line, and reinstalled.
I mostly used this (except it's 3.3) :

Open Office looks better, Applications> Office shows all the modules for Open
Office.org 3.3.
However it is NOT opening spreadsheets, either with $ soffice -calc file.xls or
from Applications> Office.
I need to use spreadsheets. Help?

Is it possible for you to post one of the offending OOo spreadsheets to
the list, so others can open it and verify it's not corrupted ?
