I believe I've read that Wordperfect brought out DOC. Then MS changed it.
It could well be. But from what I have seen MS is the one that owns it now.
With open source ODF, maybe I'm not running the risk I ran with MS Word. Thanks, Andy.
There are two reasons to use the ODF standard. The first you see, if nothing else you can extract the content and use it in a text editor. The second is that you are not required to use one program to access the full document.
