My guess would be that you downloaded the program and never installed it, you 
just ran it from the download file (you had a .dmg file that you clicked on and 
a disk icon with open office showed you om your desktop).  You probably cleaned 
out your downloads folder and threw the install file away.  Download it again, 
and this time drag the open office icon to the application folder then you can 
throw out the installer.
