Thank you  for your detailed answer. A last remark/question.

As I understand there are two ways of copying data from the data base
to  scalc. I refer here to the entire table (that's what I am
interested in most.)

    1  using the right mouse bottom, select copy go to scal do paste.

    2  selecting the table and drag and drop it over the scal.

In the last case,  the icon is hightlighted while  in the first  it is
not.  So I wonder what is the difference technically between both? I
thought one is a link (poss 2) while 1 is not, but what does this
mean, it seems that any change I make in the database is not reflected
in the scal, even if the operation was a link. Most likely I
misunderstood something fundamental.

PS do you agree that not having a "pure print option" in the database
interface is a inconvenience?
